MARCH VIOLETS HOMECOMING SHOW

Leeds Metropolitan University 8th December 2007

Formed in Leeds back in the Eighties, the March Violets were one of the darker bands that gave birth to what became the Gothic Scene.

Three of the original members have come together to perform a ONE-OFF ONE NIGHT ONLY event in the city that started it. A chance for those who never experienced the legendary chaos of their shows back in the day to do the real Snake Dance and for those who were there to relive the thrill. With brand new material available only to ticket holders, plus an aftershow party till 3am featuring Guest DJs from the Wendy House plus others this is a unique gathering. The line-up includes Simon Denbigh, Rosie Garland and Tom Ashton.

Ebb-heads Rejoice

Nitzer Ebb is BACK! Well, sort of. It's not exactly the same lineup as before, but it's a good start and could turn out to be great in the long run. As their web site says, "Douglas McCarthy, the legendary voice of Nitzer Ebb, is ready for a new electronic WAR ! ! He has joined forces with Terence Fixmer to create Fixmer /McCarthy - a new project that combines both their strengths." Terence Fixmer is a well known electronic music artist in his own right, who had previously done remix work for Nitzer Ebb. Fixmer and McCarthy have already begun performing live shows. There's also some discussion of a Nitzer Ebb movie. Check the Nitzer Ebb site, www.nitzer-ebb.com , for more details.

Specimen Returns

Leading exponents of the Batcave glam-goth-punk style, Specimen established their unique sound on a number of singles in England that were then collected and released together as the Batastrophe EP (Sire) in 1983. The Batcave was a regular club night they organized in London's Soho district (it was later moved to other locations) that helped to build the scene. Following Batastrophe, the only other 2 releases attributed to Specimen were basically Batastrophe plus a few extra obscure tracks or extended versions of previous material. Thanks to Metropolis Records, Specimen is back and working on a new CD. Metropolis has announced a June 19, 2007 release date for the new CD entitled "Electric Ballroom". We got an advance copy of the new version of "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" which sounds quite different from the original (hear it on our station now). Aside from KKBB, the rest of the new CD is reportedly all brand new material.

The Return of Switchblade Symphony Vocalist Tina Root

Her new indie pop project is called Tre Lux. The CD entitled "A Strange Gathering" is a diverse mix of all cover songs, including Depeche Mode's “Never Let Me Down Again” and Ministry's "Every Day is Halloween". The song styles venture into new territory which serves to showcase Tina's skills as a vocalist who can sound good while blending many genres. The CD booklet adds nice notes to explain each song choice. Visit the Tre Lux MySpace page . Buy the CD at the Cleopatra Records Store .
